What We Do

Our weekly worship on Sunday is the heart of our parish life together.

While our service is rooted in ancient Christian liturgy, we believe that liturgy should be as hospitable as it is transcendent. Whether you are new to church or a longtime Christian, you’ll find others just like you engaging in a form of worship that is participatory, joyful, and reverent.

In our service, we sing both classic and contemporary hymns accompanied by musicians who are part of our church. We pray for our local communities, our church, the needs of others and our own, and for the world. We read portions of Scripture and hear a sermon that relates God’s Word to our lives. And each week our service culminates in the Eucharist, a celebratory feast open to all baptized Christians, in which we participate in our communion with God and one another.

At the entrance, you will find a printed liturgy that will orient you to all we do in our service.

Children

We value age-integrated worship, believing children have as much to offer and receive in worship as adults. Thus we aim for our worship to be family-friendly, participatory, and hospitable to our smallest worshippers and the parents who care for them.

For most of the year, we offer Children’s Chapel for children in the first grade and younger during the sermon. They return to the service at the Peace to receive communion with their families. The chapel time will include an age appropriate lesson and activity connected with our liturgy.

We welcome the joyful noise and presence of a growing number of children at Holy Cross!
